"A bowl of soup" Hits Annual Sales of 30 Billion Yuan

From an unknown niche item to a pervasive Internet sensation，Huainan beef soup industry has entered the “fast lane” of development——selling 30 billion yuan worth in a year.

Huainan beef soup has transformed from a niche specialty to a widely recognized sensation. And it has gained a strong presence on major sales platforms such as Taobao, JD.com, and Douyin (TikTok), with live streaming sales covering all platforms and time periods. In 2023, the total industrial output value of Huainan beef soup exceeded 30 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15%.

Currently, Huainan beef soup industry has established a physical business pattern with 1,600 operating stores in Huainan and over 30,000 physical stores nationwide, covering the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Entering the production workshop of  Anhui Xudong Food Technology Co., Ltd., which is located in the Bagongshan District of Huainan City, the intelligent steam soup pots are lined up in a row. Fresh beef bones and over 10 types of Chinese herbs are placed inside. After 8 hours of simmering, beef soup is produced, which will eventually become premade Huainan beef soup and be sent to all parts of the country from here.

Nowadays, the premade Huainan beef soup production and processing enterprises have increased from 14 to 20, with an annual production capacity of over 100,000 tons, forming a collaborative development pattern dominated by the Bagongshan District, Huainan economic development area, Tianjia 'an District, Maoji experimental area.  The shift from dispersed small enterprises to concentrated large ones is underway and the initial formation of industrial cluster effects has been achieved.
