Huainan: “Super Anhui” Food Competition Kicks off
On the evening of September 14th, the Huainan City Team Selection Competition for the “Super Anhui” Food Competition kicked off in the Chunshenli Cultural Street. 10 teams from counties and districts under the jurisdiction of Huainan, including famous chefs from time-honored shops, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, famous shop owners on the internet, night market vendors, and folk food enthusiasts, competed on the stage.
The King of Huainan acted by a person, served as a “food judge” and initiated the ritual of starting a fire for a cauldron with famous chefs, opening the curtain of the food competition. The chefs showcased their exquisite knife skills, cutting tofu into shreds that each can pass through the tiny eye of a needle, and carving tofu into the pattern of chrysanthemums. They stunned the audience with the “Tofu Magic Show”.


Local cuisines including intangible cultural heritage cuisines, time-honored brands, and folk flavor competed on the same stage: Tofu Feast, Beef Soup, Huaiwang Fish, Shouzhou Salty Goose, and Meat Balls with Shepherd’s Purse, Jiaogang Lake Fisherman’s Feast took turns to interpret Huainan through local flavors.
Accompanied by the performance of Flower Drum Lantern Dance and Shouzhou Gongs and Drums, the competition evoked the the heroic sentiment of Huainan.




About ten thousand people tasted beef soup on site with Shouzhou yellow glazed porcelain bowls. Lord Chunshen, a historical figure from the Warring States Period (475-221 BC) and “Chu Xiaonan” NPC rotated the “24-Solar-Term Food Wheel”, interacting enthusiastically with tourists.


With the elegance of tofu, the richness of beef soup, and the longevity of Chu Culture, the winners will represent Huainan to fight in the “Super Anhui” Food Competition. Every bite of Huainan flavor can ease your homesickness.
