Tomb No. 1 of Wuwangdun is the only scientifically excavated tomb of a king of Chu State in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, and is the tomb of King Kaolie of Chu State in the late Warring States period. The tomb is grand in scale and clear in structure, with tens of thousands of precious cultural relics such as bronze wares, jade wares, lacquerwares, and so on unearthed, including the Nine Tripod Ding Vessels and Eight Gui Vessels, deep circular vessel with two or four handles, used as a container for grain, bells and chimes that demonstrate royal power, systematically revealing the connotation of Chu State’s ritual system, material achievements, and cultural integration.
At present, the main construction of the Wuwangdun Tomb Exhibition and Utilization Facility Project has been capped and is scheduled to be completed by 2027. In the future, Huainan City will speed up the construction of the Chu-Han cultural tourism core area with Wuwangdun Tomb as the core to make cultural relics “come to life” and promote the integrated development of culture and tourism.
