Huainan Is Securing an Emerging Field of Synergy of Computing Power and Electricity
According to the report by Finance Channel of CCTV on June 6, the concept of “the synergy between computing power and electricity ” was written in the government work report for the first time in 2026, marking the computing power engines was listed as a national strategy from technological breakthroughs. Huainan’s operating and under-construction thermal power capacity has reached 19.6 million kilowatts, with completed renewable energy installations totaling 5.24 million kilowatts. The capacity in Huainan will surpass 20 million kilowatts in the future, leveraging a rare national advantage of “thermal power as a foundation + green power support + integration of power source, grid, usage and storage” to establish a new hub for “synergy of computing power and electricity.”
In Fengtai County, Huainan City, each kilowatt-hour of electricity generated by renewable energy was sold at 0.5 yuan originally, but when the electricity is used for high-value tokens in computing power centers, it can be sold globally at 10 yuan per kilowatt hour. Shen Wenzhong, director of the Solar Energy Research Institute at Shanghai Jiaotong University, noted that the cost of China’s green power has dropped to 2 to 3 cents per kilowatt hour. In the coming two decades, advancements in TOPCon, BC, perovskite tandem, and other technologies can further boost battery efficiency by 10 percent. Every one percent efficiency improvement can reduce power generation costs by 7 percent, which will significantly support China’s AI development. Huainan is securing an emerging field in “ the synergy of computing power and electricity” with its unique resource endowments.
