Recently, a cross-border cultural exchange event was held at the Confucius Temple in Shouxian County. The Beijing Language and Culture University·Shouxian County “Chinese Language and Culture Innovation Practice Base” was officially unveiled. The millenium-old ancient city and the international university joined hands at the Confucius Temple, building a new platform for the innovative dissemination of excellent traditional Chinese culture.

The atmosphere of the Dacheng Hall of the Confucius Temple, surrounded by ancient cypresses, was elegant and solemn. The event site gathered young students from many countries. They immersed themselves in the Confucian cultural scene to experience the unique charm of Chinese traditional culture. An Egyptian representative of foreign students shared in fluent Chinese, “Entering Shouxian County is like opening a living history book. I will cherish every practical opportunity to present the wonderful things here to the world.”

After the ceremony, an intangible cultural heritage performance of the Shouzhou Gong and Drum immediately started. The overseas students were captivated by the lively rhythm. Under the step-by-step guidance of the inheritors, they picked up gong mallets and tried to strike. The Chinese and foreign students hit the same drum, with laughter and gong sounds echoing one after another. In addition, the foreign students also experienced the traditional sachet making. They sewed by hand and learned about ancient spice formulas, immersing themselves in the fun of local traditional handicrafts.
